Jubiabá is a narrative in third person enviromented in bahia that tells the story of Antonio Balduíno (Boldo), protected
by the pai-de-santo (like a priest of the candomble religion). Baldo, the protagonist, gets a messer , boss of a group of guys and forget his negro ancestrals and the traditions of his race. Opressed by the socity, he leaders a group, steal and at the same time fall in love with Lindinalva, a white girl, that belongs to a family that adopts him, so an impossible love. The adventures of Baldo goes from a street guy, sambista (player of samba), boxer, rural worker, circus artist, charger of Salvador´s Port until leader of a strike of the port
workers. The engaged novel, where the political ideology appears in a clear way through the Proleteriat, the classes fight, the denounce of a crisis, that shows the society and the historical conditions of Brazil in 30 decade. At Jubiabá, Balduíno is the example of an unfair society that, after the Lindalva´s Death, his loved, recovers his freedom and get partner of others men. The conscience of the herotake him to join the worker moviment,
getting the posture in front of the social injustice of his time. The pai-de-santo Jubiabá, is the frame of the Bahia, preserves the traditions of his negro Ancestrals trough the religious sincretism that he represents. In the Balduíno trajectory, Jorge Amado builds an painel of the Bahia and, consequently, of Brazil.The Morro do Capa Negro, place where Baldo lives when he was boy, is explained in details, the gets colors and moviment. The Bahia and its culture are described on a detiled way, exotic anf multifaced. Vitorious as a strike leader, Baldo sees new worlds, dream of getting a seamen and travel trough the sea because belives that despite the slaves, the workers fight to get free, to conquer his rights. Baldo dreams of going away in a ship and leader strike in every ports.
