Indian Womanhood: Warped in Contrditions

Book Review by: seejupaati

Original Author: Srijaya Char
The book tries to expose a woman''s inner ''pshyche'' and her external ''soma''. It raises some pertinent questions. Why
is she treated well only as long ash falls into the pattern of howmen and society want her to live? Does she not have a mind of her own? does she have to be a servile and submissive creature witout a head and a heart and should she have to please all around her? The moment a woman exhibits her individuality and expresses her opinions boldly, she is forcibly silenced. The means used for silencing are many-at times very cruel. Physiical abuse can be proved in court as it is seen as welts or wounds. It bears witness. The person concerned can be punished. But the silent ''psychic'' welts are not seen. Such welts bear no witness and cannot be proved in court. Her ''psyche'' gets damaged permanently.
