The DNA newspaper from India put forth a very convincing case regarding the condition of
studies in the world. The questions here is that, can only a steady
education be enough? I
know of so many people who have gone for a meeting with a great businessman, asked whether they know any good joke.......and are speechless.
The famous book, "How Opal Mehta got kissed, Got Wild and Got A Life "by Kaavya Vishwanathan, shows Opal trying to enter a famous college. When asked what she did for fun, she did not know what to say.
What I want to say is, people cannot make a steady life without sports and entertainment. Many people know this but some still think that education is enough and hence dozens of children slogg under pressure from determined parents. I
completely understand that
parents want to bring about the
best in their child but it''s completely useless
forcing a child to
study for 5 hours a day!
In 8 std. to 10 std. it is obvious that a child must study. His future is at stake. But the best time to enjoy life is when young! I am not typing all this because i''m certain about my views.
I am more inquisitive whether making a child slogg is helpful or not.
I study in a boarding school in Pune, The Bishop''s Co-ed School. Over here, we study without our parents for a good three hours and still do fine. Many of us get above 85%.
Since i have joined i have never gone under 75%. The main thing to do is to pay attention in class. The job of the parent should be to get the children''s perspective right!
My parents taught me from an early age that studies are a must and i should study in all earnesty. But my parents never neglected buying me a toy to play at that time nor did they stop giving me a breadk.
This has helped me and my academics. Colleges these days are very interested in the student''s field of sport.
That is why I have written all this. Just so that all shvoongers know that education alone does not make a life.
