Clayton Taggart dreams of a time when he can leave the life of a miner and study to be a teacher.
But in the middle of his plans, he met Jackie Fontainer. Jackie and her family moved from the East and is a strong willed girl. Jackie and Clayton always had frictions but not until they realized that they both liked each other.

Clayton and his family have decided to move away and that Clayton can pursue a study to be a teacher. They promise that they would write to each other until one day Jackie feel in their store and caused her blindness.

Afraid for the rejection, she cut all her communications to Clay and moved to live with her sister in Boulder. Jackie needed to be taught to be independent. So they hire a teacher for her to teach her to read braile, and they ended up with Clay teaching her.
