If you would wish to answer the above questions, then and many more queries, both to the Christians and to those who are not Christians. Kenneth Copeland explains the issues of faith and hope in his two-chapter book that has handled the issue very well.
In the first chapter he describes what happens to the spirit of a human being before and after conversion. He describes the relation between the flesh and the spirit, and the soul. Worth noting is his elaboration of the word flesh which has been corrupted to only mean sex.
He explains the above by simply using two biblical references in Galatians 5:16-17,25. he says that 'the reborn human spirit is created to rule over the whole human system' therefore to be a powerful Christian, one's spirit trained in the word of God must be in command of his mind and body.
he describes the chain of command as spirit (heart), soul (mind), body (flesh). The words in the brackets can be used interchangeably to mean the others. he says the human system works perfectly well in this order.
However for this to be perfected, he includes the issue of renewing of the mind using the verse in Romans 12:1. Renewing he says is training, generally in the mind which he likes to a computer. The mind breaks under pressure that is why it is not to be put on top of the order, the mind will fail.
This process however he notes needs practice because it takes some time and effort. but if one does this he promises and by giving examples that to the Christians, divine healing will be true and a reality. he says the
force of faith is provident of reason. It doesn’t need logic to act as in faith. The ministry of Jesus was governed not by logic but by need, e.g. the Jairus daughter and the woman with an issue of blood.
As Jairus daughter was lying at the point of death something in his father’s heart was convincing him that everything is going to be ok. That something the author says is faith.
When you need more than just common sense results, faith is the only way to get it.
He visits the way fear control the world because it is the weapon of the devil the same way God uses faith to heal, the devil can and will use fear to make one sick.
Everyone has faith, the natural human faith. It is what helps one to born-again. The author also brings to an account our confession; we must also exercise the use of positive words to correspond to our faith. The result of faith is determined by the confessions.
Where does faith come from? It is the product of your spirit. Yourconfession corresponds to the level of the word of god that is working in you. Romans 10:17. Faith like any force therefore must be applied in order for one to benefit thereof. Someone can therefore say ‘I’m not moved by what I see or feel, I’m moved only by what I believe’
When faith tends to waver for one to be unmoved the power of patience is needed to under gird faith. Majority of the places where faith is mentioned you will also find patience in the bible. Together they will produce results. Patience without faith has no power to call into reality the desired things so he calls them power twins. He says that it is not that our faith is weak because faith as always is a powerful force. It will work, but without patience we stop the force of faith from working with negative confessions.
He says patience, as a force must also be developed. The reader must not confuse the two. Each plays a different role in our Christian lives. Patience is developed in trials and testing. James 1:13 he concludes by reminding the reader the relations between the power of faith and patience and why the reader must constantly confess positive words to get the desired results. The last line says it all ‘the experience of the answer is inevitable.
