The play opens in a conversation between Antigona and her sister, Ismena. they argue about Polinekes''s burial. Antigona claims that they have to bury their brother, Polinekes who died in the war for Tebai, and the new king Kreon, ordered to leave Polinekes''s body revealed and exposed as food to eagle while it use as symbol to traitor in the goverment. Antigona tries to convice Ismena to help her, but Ismena claims that the goverment law is stronger, therefore they wouldn''t risk by crossing the law and will cause cutting down of Edipus''s dynasty.
This arguement is the spinal column of the whole play. when the destiny of the all charcters and development of the events, all tied in this agruement.
Antigona eventually buried her dear brother, gets caught, stays strong in her opinion and stick in her justice. even when the death is threaten her. she doesn''t broke and keeps holding her principle even proud of them. she doesn''t scard to stand up against the king and agrue with him sharp arguement on the position of laws in the world. "your commandment, king, is powerful, however your strength is inconsequential against the gods'' laws which are unwritten.."
On the frist sight, Antigona is portrayed as a robot which recived path and nothing will divert him from the path. However the playwriter who was aware of this description, worried to prove to the audience that it''s not about a mechanized doll, it''s about a person having feelings and fears, "freinds, look at me and pity on me. i''m going to my last travel and i won''t see the sun again. my sentence is distorted with no pity!". Antigona''s strong character is actually her calling card, anything she will do, in anything she will say will be shred, maybe more than that, standing strong again any one who opposer to her opinions.
