Mr Qudrat Ul Lah shohab says that he had seen the events of refugees camps of 1947 "Ya khuda" (o God) book revolves around a girl named Dilshad. She was kept in a mosque by Sikhs in India just after 1947 riots. The Sikhs used to enjoy sex with her. When she became pregnant she was sent to camp for onward dispatching to Pakistan. The camp was near a railway line which leads to west i.e to Pakistan. Dilshad used to think that in west there is Mecca & there is Pakistan too
(The land of cleanliness) She used to think that in west side "there are brothers there are fathers there is chastity."
Finally she reached to Pakistan (Lahore) by train. She gave birth to an illegal child of Sikhs during journey. she went to a refugee camp. When she reached to camp it was 9 O’clock of night. The clerk refused to give her any quilt or blanket So she went to court yard of camp with new born baby & raining. It was severe cold. There she saw another lady with 4 years child. The child was ill but that mother was also with out quilt/ blanket. When the coldness increased the 4 years ailing child started shivering. The breathing of child became disturbed. The mother became puzzled. Mother was finding no way to save her 4 years child. In helpless condition the mother saw here & there & then undressed herself and wrapped her 4 year child in that dress. Next morning the sun rose & it saw a dead body of naked lady & her dress on the body of child. The sun rays were falling on her naked body---- Then the men of clerk came & put one blanket on the naked dead body.--- (page 59 -61 )
Then one day one man came & took Dilshad to her house & raped her. ---The author says that future Islamic State of Pakistan was rising---(Page 93)
Book has put light on the prejudicing that was prevailing in between different languages in Pakistan. Even how police was involved in corruption has been shown in the book--- I think author had shown all realities of 1947 which are kept hidden from general people. Even the comments which has been published on the flapper of book says that this is story of girl who can not find security--- neither in Pakistan nor in India. The book has been welcomed so much by public that it has been republished after every 2 years since its first publication. The first edition was published in year 1948 i.e. just after one year of independence of Pakistan. The end of story is very tragedic—The lady who has come to Pakistan for saving chastity("ISMAT") was made prostitute by muslim brothers
