Horses had been ill-treated by the cold-blooded humans of her time. Many of these horses died just because of over-exhuastion. Humans of her time treated them like a tool but not an animal. They thought that they were just merely beasts of burdens and nothing else. This ignorance had caused pain into Anna Sewell's heart. Every piece of news that Anna Sewell had got hold on, with the death of a horse or other animals, she would cry her heart out like it was her own Mother.
