Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi (we Indians call him Mahatma Gandhi or Gandhiji) is considered as a historic personality. The gospel of ahimsa (non-violence) is treated usually compared to Christ and
Buddha. First published in 1927, Gandhiji started writing his autobiography when he was in Yarwada prison.
Translated into so many languages, Gandhiji’s autobiography is one of the bestsellers in India in all time.
Actually, this autobiography only tells the story until 1920’s. He stops the autobiography saying, “the rest of my life is extreme public”. He stops because the people knew everything about his life.
His famous words “My life is my message”
When Gandhiji was shot dead on 30th January 1948 Jawaharlal Nehru said
“The light has gone……..no I am wrong,….even after thousands of years this light will shine.”
Albert Einstein said, “The generations to come will not believe that such a man with flesh and blood ever lived in this world”
What Paul S.Buck said on his demise was “the second Christ was crucified.”
Reading his autobiography is a unique experience.
This book can be considered to the group of classics. This is the history of an ordinary man who became a historic man in the world who changed history of India. This book is inspiring than any other self-making or motivating books.
Gandhiji was very shy in this adolescence. He could not continue practicing as a lawyer since he could not speak a word on his first appearance of his court as a lawyer due to tension and shiver. That shy man became a hero of millions and one of the great men of the 20th century. This book teaches us how an ordinary man can transform himself and raise to top of the world.
Of course, my experiments with truth will influence you and will change you.
