In the Deathroom

Book Review   by:anonymousmarkz     Original Author: Stephen King
ª

The story I n the Deathroom is the fifth short story in the collection Everything's Eventual: 14 Dark Tales by Stephen King . It was first published in his collection Secret Windows in 2000 by the publishing company Book of the Month Club. It is a suspense horror story, however, most of it happened only inside a room. The main character of this story is a man named Fletcher, a former reporter from the New York Times who has been captured by members of a South American government. The story begins as Fletcher is brought into the titular "deathroom" as he realizes that his captors will not let him leave the room alive, despite their claims that he will be set free.
The story talks about a political issue, a communist insurgency where the main character has been supporting, how he kept calm during the interrogation, and   hatches a desperate plan to save his life. Yet, the story ends with a man, almost certainly Fletcher, buying a pack of cigarettes at a newsstand kiosk in New York .
