Gus: A Nun's Story

Book Review

   by:jakeronaldmarbida
Original Author: SAVAS
The book was humorous and very inspiring. It tells of a woman searching for God and the meaning of life by entering a convent. She left the dreams of her family for her and her beloved.Upon entering the convent she discovered a world that was very different and not as what she was expecting it to be.Her postulatum leads her to more miseries and longing for God.The burden became more excruciating when she entered the noviciate where most of  the nun lost their minds. They were not allowed to talk , to smile and laugh with each other even to have a little leisure, they were just praying all the time or would do house hold chores.Still, she continued her search for God but never found Him and decided to leave. This made her felt embarrassed. She did not know what her families and friends would tell her.But expect the unexpected....she found God which is  most important.
This is not atheism. The setting of the story was back in time when the church was still very strict. But I do not know today.Perhaps they are not now, for I already seen a lot of nuns having an intimate friendship with other nuns and even with priests. In the story it was not allowed, pain and too much suffering was thought to be the ideal way to find God.The truth revealed in the book was that God is everywhere, you do not have to find Him for He is not missing but always there just waiting for someone to approach Him.
