Browsing has been a good habit I acquired as a teacher and now that I have retired I get down to it again on Sunday af the weekend.  The aftermath of today has finally settled and thus far I have
managed to get to grips with some interesting facts on Pablo Picasso (1881-1973).

The Law on Prostitution still stands in Britain and Brothels are banned but sometimes its possibe for a man to marry his mistress if he is indeed free to do so.

Picasso was born in Andalusia and was the son of an art teacher and Maria Picasso Lopez and he entered the Academy at Barcelona at 14 years of age and transferred to Madrid 2 years later

In 1898 Picasso won a Gold Medal:
In 1901-4 Picasso had his "Blue Period"
Afterwards came his "Rose Period" - 1904-6

His relationship with Fernand Oliver inspired his work/  Eva Marcelle Humbert was another friend of his and Eva died in 1915.

He had many mistresses and relationships and those of importance are quoted as his last mistress -
Jacqueline Roque whom he maried in 1961.

Picasso was Director of Prado Gallery, Madrid in 1936-1939.

Picasso taught in Vienna in 1955 - and he died at 92 in 1973 ... He is one of the world's greatest artists and his work is well documented in the Cambridge Biographical Encyclopedia by David Crystal .. nice work ... I love this style of painting by Picasso!

During the Outbreak of World War II Picasso was in Paris and joined the Communist Party but his work did not please the Party.

He retired to the country in 1898 and began using his mother's maiden name!

I used to have a Picasso Painting just a cheap copy actually ... hanging in my Office and I found it quite inspirational!  Great work by great artists lives on eternally.
