Jamie Lee Curtis - Is There Really a Human Race?

Book Review by: MichelleB

Original Author: Jamie Lee Curtis
Is There Really a Human Race? Inquiring minds want to know! At least the inquiring minds of kids do. This latest book by
Jamie Lee Curtis is filled with child-like questions about the journey through life and how humans learn to make the world a better place. The rhyme is spot-on. The message is not too preachy. “Sometimes it’s better not to go fast. There are beautiful sights to be seen when you’re last.” The illustrations by Laura Cornell are absolutely amusing! One page features a maternity ward filled with bassinets of babies decked out in tiny outfits – an aspiring baseball player and a businessman, a musician and a movie star, a doctor and a bawling opera diva (the baby next to her has his ears plugged with baby booties!). There are a multitude of children’s books written by celebrity authors, ranging in quality from decent to don’t-ever-try-that-again (see my reviews on celebrity books by Katie Couric, Will Smith, Jay Leno, George Foreman, et al). With their humor and heart, it is no wonder that Curtis and Cornell have evolved into a bestselling children’s book team.
Golden Globe winner Jamie Lee Curtis is the daughter of legendary actors Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh. She has appeared on TV and in many films, including Beverly Hills Chihuahua, My Girl, Trading Places and the popular Halloween cult thrillers.
