First of all:
what is an altered state of consciousness?
As indicated by the word itself, an altered
state of
consciousness is a
non-ordinary state of consciousness (by
ordinary meaning all that your daily life is like).
Self-hypnosis is an easy tool to acquire in order to enter trance, i.e. an altered state of consciousness.
But what is the use for entering an altered state of consciousness?
If you are interested in altering ordinary consciousness, you have two possibile approaches at your disposal, as explained by Fabrizio Ponzetta:
APPROACH 1: ordinary consciousness is real life.
By interrupting and altering it, one can see, feel and listen to things that in ordinary consciousness have no place, and yet can prove useful.
APPROACH 2: daily life is an altered state of consciousness.
By interrupting it you find yourself back in a “natural” and thus ordinary state of consciousness which has been altered by society, culture and family education.
( Fabrizio Ponzetta, “The New Self-hypnosis Handbook”, Insegnamenti s.r.l. 2009)
Now try and consider which of the two approaches reflects more the reality according to your personal experience.
If for you “ordinary consciousness is real life”, you have the chance to use the power of self-hypnosis (and therefore the trance state induced by self-hypnosis) to satisfy your material needs and fulfil your desires.
If for you “daily life is an altered state of consciousness”, then you have the chance to use self-hypnosis and trance to investigate and find the true meaning of your life.
Just try it out!
