Psycho-Sclerosis

Book Summary by: dhaxry

Original Author: Fadunsin O'dami Moses
Psycho- sclerosis is a disease of the human mind that endangers a life in lack, poverty and dejection. It is not totally a
medical condition that may be treated with medical intervention, drugs or surgery, but rather with a re-orientation of the human mind. It is an attitude of the mind that narrows it so as not seeing beyond the ordinary. This is caused by the accumulation of negative thoughts, ideals and or imagination which in turn blocks the path of wisdom, a path that empowers the mind. It can be likened to the formation of a plaque on a vascular wall in the human body, and therefore can also be referred to as a psycho-sclerotic plaque.
Psycho – Mental
Sclerosis – Medical term that may mean hardening of a tissue
Plaque – Medical word that may mean deposition of materials in a vessel
Psycho-sclerotic plaque is a mental accumulation of negative thoughts, imagination and or ideas that narrows the mind to the path of wisdom and knowledge acquisition. Its resultant effect is the hardening of the mind and or attitude towards the realities of life; this is due to the deposition of a negative idea on the human mind. It accumulates on the mind obstructing the flow of happiness, which usually is mistaken for depression. This accumulation fixes on the path of the flow of wisdom and its long term effect is the hardening of the human attitude. It does not allow the mind to accommodate ideas that will better the human life. It depresses the mind and encapsulating it in fear and fury. It makes every plan and effort of a life not worthwhile and thereby blurs the human vision. It totally paralyzes the mind set making a life; loose focus (sense of seeing), loose the human feelings and adaptation to situations (sense of dreaming and thinking), and to loose the coordination of life and or people (sense of leading).
Ashley Montague, the great Rutgers anthropologist, defined ‘psycho-sclerosis’ as: “the hardening of the attitude which causes a person to cease dreaming, seeing, thinking and leading”. He compared psycho sclerosis with arteriosclerosis; Arteriosclerosis is a hardening of the arteries. 'Psycho sclerosis' is a hardening of the attitude.
He believed that when this happens, we cease to dream, to see, to think, and we cease to lead."
Psycho-sclerosis can be termed a disease because disease is word from the combination of two words dis, which may mean removal and, ease that may mean peace, therefore in this can disease can mean the removal of peace from the mind. When there is no peace in the mind it is evident on the face. The beauty of a man is in the making of his mind and it radiates on the face, the mood of a person speaks the state of his mind. The “thought” is the “mouth” of the mind; it speaks the feelings of a man and its “writing” is seen on the realities of life and its images on the face. Psycho-sclerosis is been referred to here as a disease because it causes damage to the mind and in turn the entire human life, if not properly monitored. It does to the mind what disease does to the body, like arteriosclerosis that causes the narrowing of the arteries by the lining of fatty deposits on the walls of the blood vessels, the accumulation of the negative ideas of life occludes the flow of the realities of life, wise counsels, critical reasoning, logical ideas and wise judgments to life’s issues. This occlusion develop into an inability to think, see or reason and can lead to an eventual deadening of the mind, that blocks the flow of happiness, thereby building up pressure on the mind that looks like depression on the outside. It becomes so dangerous that we externally seek medical intervention because it paralyzes the human psyche.
Therefore, psycho-sclerotic-plaque is a disease of the mind that causes narrowing of the human mind by the flow of negative thoughts, ideas and or imagination causing the hardening of the attitude towards change. It hinders the mind from seeing, thinking, dreaming, and achieving. If we can not see, we can not think, when we can not think we can not dreaming and if we can not dream we can not achieve, because there is no set goal. This makes a life stationary, immovable and stagnant, making life a miserable one. This irritates the mind and it will always be evident on the life as poverty, lack, rejection, depression and or dejection. What it does to a life is destroying the in-factor of the human mind. It causes pain which in real sense of it is regret. This pain that comes with our action is a signal that things have not been done right and the remedy is a reorientation or setting for ourselves a target to accomplish.
