Cricket originated in England.It is played in most of the United Kingdom.W.G Grace, C.B. Fry and Sir Jack Hobbs were the
outstanding batsmen.International Cricket Council was founded in 1909 .Australia,England,India,New Zealand, Pakistan, sri lanka and West Indies are members.
Cricket is played in an oval field.The rules do not specify the material to be used in making the cricket ball.The best are however those with cork center wrapped with twine and leather cover.The ball must be between  8 3/16 and 9 inches.It must weigh between 5 1/2 and 5 3/4 ounces.The bat can not be longer than 38 inches and width should not be more than 4 1/4 inches.The bat has round handle and flat bladelike surface.Players may wear caps, or helmets, open-necked shirts, trousers and spiked shoes.Protective leg pads and gloves can also be worn. Teams take turns in batting and fielding.Bowlers are members at the fielding side.they run up the wicket and delivers the ball with stiff-armed motion at the oposite wicket.The ball usually bounces once in front of the wickets.Fielder called wicketkeeper is behind wicket.Batsmen are at the batting side.At the far wicket is the striker.He faces the bowler and he tries to hit the ball with the long bat.He will be out if he the ball knocks a bail off the wicket.If the ball is hit in the field, a teammate at the opposite wicket may try to score a run/The batsmen score each time they run to the opposite wicket before a fielder can knock a bail with the ball.Sometimes they can run back and forth several times before the fielder can return the ball/The next striker is the one who is at the wicket opposite the bowler when the ball is returned.Runs are also scored for hits that reach or cross the field's boundary line.The team that scores the most runs wins.
