Lear is a selfish, dominating, ambicious and unfaithful king, he thinks he is the center of the universe. He divides his kingdom to show that, even without royal power and atributes, he will still be in charge. The thing is that, in the moment he loses the crown, the blind falls from his eyes, so he sees reality. To Lear, unfortune is the way to improve his caracter. Betrayed by those who he thougt to be his friends and reduced to poverty, he finally gets to know the mesure of man. Along the process of pain lighting his spirit, he acquires the majesty he lacked when he used to hold power.
