Utopia is a universally known Social-Politic Romance and one of the masterpieces of the Renaissance. In the fist part of
this book, still very profoundly and palpitatingly up to date, the author presents and critisizes que
socialpolitic portrait of England and other european states of that time, telling us about the despotic Monarquies, the servitude of the king''s surrounders, the venality of high servants, the luxury end injustice of noble men and monks. In the second half, instead of
dogmatically proposing the necessary reforms, Thomas More preferred to imagine the ideal organization of society, in a far away land, giving us, this way, a magnificent description of what could be called the perfect socialist and democratic state.
