The Odysea of Homer : An exploration of the trips of
Odysseus. Homer narrates the trip back to Odysseus country after fighting
in the war of Troya for 10 years, in 24 books. When he finally managed to arrive at his native islan Ithaka,
Odysseus has passed almost 20 years far way from home. Odysseus did not wish to join his Akhaian companions to fight in the Troyan war. But he had fulfilled the swear to defend the honor of Menelaos when Helen left Sparta to return to Troya with Paris. Telemakhos, the son of Odysseus and pinelopi, was still a baby when his father left for the war. Now, 19 years have passed and Telemakhos is now a man that wishes to get rid of the 100 pretenders of his mother that wish to marry her and who are in ithaka. Convinced by Athena, that is supposed to be an ancient friend of the family, Telemakhos leaves on board to go and search for his father, Odysseus. What the boy does not knowis that his father is on the island Oggla with the nymphe
Kalipso. Kalipso stopped Odysseus for 7 years hoping to convince him that in vase he stays he will be turned to an immortal one. While Telemakhos navigates first a Pylos and shortly to sparta looking for his fataher, Zeus sends Hermes to Kalipso island to liberate Odysseus. Kalipso hardly liberates Odysseus and lets him build a boat that will take him to Sheria, the country of Phaiakes. When he arrives at Skheria, Odysseus speaks about all his adventures from the moment that he lft Troya till present. odysseus relates the way that Greek constructed a hourse of wood and the warriers hid inside it. <<The troyans, convinced that Greeks had left the camp of Troya, entered the hourse in the city. Later that same night, when troyans got drunk at celebrations, the Greeks came out of the orse stomack and devastated Troya. After leaving sailing from Troya, Odysseus and his men were fighting between Kikons and have manay loses. Their next stop was at the north coast of Africa where his men encountered the lotos eaters. Those who eat from the lotos flower loose their memory to home back and do not desire to continue their trip. Finally Odysseus manages to force his men to continue their trip. In an island said to be Sicilia, odysseus fights against ciclop, plyphemoss and takes out his unique eye. Throughout a skillful manoever, Odysseus and his men can escape from the island. However Odysseus ignores that Polyphemos was son of Neptune. At that moment the god of sea is convirted to his nemesis and makes difficult the rest of his trip back home. Being helped by the god of wind, Aeolos, the boat of Odysseus thus reaches Ithaka. However one of the tripulants takes advantage of Odysseu''s sleep and opens the sac that has all winds inside that Aeolos had grasped. The wind sends the boat outside his rumb again, by forcing them to arrive at the island of Ajaja. Odysseus meets with the wicht Kirki, who, by convirting the men of Odysseus to porcs, finally decides to help them arrive home. Firts they have to consult Teiresias, an alive blind man that is in Hell and who gives instructions to them on how to go back home. During their trip passing sirenes and suvived their dangerous sing (he was tied to the initial mastil). Odysseus and his men have to go through two more dangers : Skylla (a monster of six heads, and Harybdis. Skylla kills six more men, one by each mouth of her, but the boat goes through the turbulent peacefully. Haryvdis When some of his men, by disobeying to him are eaten by goats of sun god. Zeus throws a sky-bomb that destroys the boat. They are all lost, except for Odysseus, that is rescated by Kalipso and her nymphes. When Odysseus finishes his narration and reveals his identity to the Pheakians the king Alkinnoos ssends him home in one of his faster boats. Upon arriving at Ithaka, Odysseus has to fight against pretenders that are in his house. Telemakhos, to whom Athena has said to come back home, arrives from his trips on time to help his father in that issue. Odysseus comes back home mentally frustrated. After inserting an arc and shooting a flesh that would go through twelve shuffles, odysseus and his defenders take the pretenders and kill them. Finally , he gets discovered by his wife Pinelopi, who by asking him several questions, accepts Odysseus for her husband. The following day, the families of the dead pretenders prosecute Odysseus up to the grange of his father Laertis. A battle is starting that stops when Athena reveals that there won''t be civil war in the island. Zeus confirms his daughter''s words and the factions deposit their arms and sign a treaty of peace. Odysseus takes again his kingdom as king of Ithaka.
