This is a story of 4 sisters and thier mother during the american civil war. The father of the family is sent to battle and the mother and her girls are descirbed as a small charming family that succeds to stay united, loveing and happy despite the war and the financial problems it brings with it. During the book were are introduced to the 4 girls,
Meg the eldest described as beautiful and works as a nanny for a rich family's children. Jo- short for josephine is some what of a tom boy- naughty, smart and full of new idea's that get her into trouble, JO must go to her rich and strict aunt against her will. Beth is No' 3 sehe is kind and good hearted and Amy the youngest is a cute hyper blond trying to find her place in the family and is disturbed by the way her nose looks. During the book the girls meet Lori the grandson of thier serious neighbor the befriend him and he falls in love with Jo. Lori has a private tutor and he and Meg envolve in a love affair. During the story we hear about the novel Jo is writeing, the figths between her and Amy and on their charming mother that succeds to give them freedom and a strict education inrolled togther. Yet things don't stay like they are at the begining Lori is inlove with Jo but she dosn't return him affection, of top of all that a tragedy happens, Beth go's to take care of a sick baby while her mother go's to take care of thier injured father, she catchs his disease which overcomes her. From now on everything changes the girls father comes back from war, Lori go's to Europe, Meg marries the tutor and Jo go's to Newyork to try her luck in writeing. Amy go's with her aunt on her trip to Europe and meets Lori there they fall inlove and get married to the joy of everyone. Jo meets an older professor in newyork and falls in love with him because of his wits, gentelness and kindness, they get married and open a boys boarding school. In the end the whole family stays in tight contact and they thank for there good luck in between themselfs even though they really miss beth and the long way they went through. The book "Little Women" is based on Louisa May Alcott's childhood and is her most famous book is has been translated to many languges and became loved by many people around the world.
