How to Win Friends and Influence People

Book Review   by:JeanBaileyRobor     Original Author: Dale Carnegie
ª

This book, How to Win Friends and Influence People, has been around for a long time, and it's still as timeless as ever. Dale Carnegie shares his views on how to deal effectively with people. You'll find ways on how to connect with other people effectively. The principles in this book show you how to deal with others without fighting, bickering, or getting angry. It has suggestions on how to become an effective communicator as well. In reading this book, you'll see how Carnegie emphasizes the way we treat others and how we should learn to genuinely care for other people and leave our selfish motives behind. Businesses today could benefit from having their people read and implement the principles in How to Win Friends and Influence People. The information is useful whether you're a manager or a one-person operation. Each of us, no matter how isolated in our jobs, deal with people every day. How to Win Friends and Influence People gives us insights into dealing more effectively with the public, our co-workers, even our family and friends. Carnegie also mentions the desire to excel. You'll find that you can achieve success with enthusiasm. Postivie thinking is a theme throughout the book. In the competitive world we live in, it would be great if everyone would implement Carnegie's ideals and change the tenor of the business world. This book is not going to change the world, but it could change your way of thinking and the way you deal with others. After reading it for yourself, you might do well to make it a gift for someone you love. I read this book over ten years ago and can definitely attest that it's one I'll re-read from time to time just to remind myself of the principles contained therein. Also, it never hurts to get a refresher course in business/personal etiquette.
