The first Afghan author to write an english novel, mr Hosseini is sure going to be remembered for such a stupendous work. The book speaks for itself and every character seems so authentic that one can forget for a while that its a work of fiction. Some people who already have some knowledge about "Taliban" will find that most of the things are based on facts like Taliban harassing people, raping small children and doing other obnoxious things in the name of God. The thing about this book which isn't very common is an insight of muslim world which differs from what people usually have in mind.
The story revolves around a guilt ridden Afghani, Aamir who moves to US with his father due to the Cold War as Afghanistan has been invaded by Russians. Leaving Afghanistan means leaving the place where Aamir had been unfair to his servant Hassan, a place which will always remind Aamir of his sin. Aamir grows old with every passing year but his guilt always reminds him of his sin and one day he gets a call, a call that gives him a chance to be good again. He goes back to Afganistan to rescue Hassan's son from Taliban but will he succed? The story is stretched a little bit but one can find the ending interesting as it is a new beginning, a new "hope", one of those endings which go on. This New York Times bestseller has been praised by people from different age groups and every parent should gift a copy to his or her kid for an enlightening experience which is sure going to make an impression on your kid for a very long time.
