Master Mind based on a true story… kinda
There was something about him that made them tell that he was a genius. The way he carried himself, the way he dressed all seemed to scream genius. The year was 1930. Alex Smith, Jim Wilson, and Garret Matlock first met Geovanni Maloon one week ago. He had found them all in the dark streets of the metropolis. He had proposed to all of them that if they came to his house he would tell them a theft that would result in a major payday for all of them.
Which was why Alex found himself walking to 6734 north street at 8:00 at night. The door was opened to him before he knocked
“Come in Mr. Smith you’re the last to arrive,” said Maloon
Alex came in and saw Jim and Garret on comfortable looking chairs pointed toward a wall. He saw that there was one more seat meant for him facing the same way.
As Maloon explained his plan, Alex reached a conclusion. Ether Maloon was a genius or was insane.
‘The plan had accord to me while walking past a bank in which I knew had thousands maybe millions in safety deposit boxes.” He started, “I was walking across the street and I saw a man hole and that’s when it his me all I would need to do is figure out how far away the deposited boxes were, dig that far come up and I would be in the room with every thing from money to valuable dolls. But the digging would take much to much time. I realized that I needed accomplices so I hired you gentlemen,“ He explained to them.
At first they were skeptical
“How will we figure out were the room is?” Garret asked with a look like he thought Maloon was a fool. Geovanni’s answer astounded them all. Like the rest of his plan it was surprisingly simple.
“Easy,” he said “The city hall has the blue prints to all of the buildings in the city. We walk in, find where the room is, add on the distance from the sewer and Viola! we’re there.”
After that all the men were convinced. Alex, at least was convinced that Maloon was a genius the likes of which the police had never before encountered. This would work. They all signed on without hesitation
Which I suppose is why I’m here thought Jim. It was his shift on digging the tunnel. His partner was Garret. Out of all of them Jim was the only one who had any doubt about the plan. But still it was tempting, a few hundred thousand dollars at least for himself if the plan succeeded. But then again he had been digging for months. In the few small thefts that he did by himself every now and then he could of stolen 100 grand by now.
But he might have been caught and be in jail right now. He got caught up in thoughts like this whenever it was his shift. At least we’re digging up now he thought.
Garret meanwhile was thinking about what he’d do with the money once he got it. He was thinking about buying his own home in Venice. He had never been to Venice but had always thought about going there.
When Maloon came in for his shift with Alex he made a stunning statement that surprised them all.
“Tonight we’ll finish the rest. Until then get some sleep, we’ll come back at 12:22 tonight.”
With that he turned and left. Well thought Garret guess I’ll ether spend the rest of my life in Venice or spend the next 50 years in jail. Ether way it will get decided tonight.
Alex showed up at 11:59 expecting to be the first. He was not. Geovanni was there with 4 bags. Some looked like they all ready had stuff in them but when he asked Maloon only said that he’d show him later.
At 12:20 they were all there but Maloon decided to wait until 12:22 to start there digging. They had a foot left to go. On two person shifts it would take an hour to clear it. On four it only took 15 minutes. When they reached the wood Maloon cut through it with a razor sharp knife as to not leave a mark on where the hole was. They went up through it and took there first steps into the room.
They quickly ran to the boxes and started opening them.
“Wait,” said Maloon as he reached into his bag.
What he took out nnobody could of anticipated it was a mark at how cocky Maloon must of relay been. He took out a basket opened it up and started giving the men the wine that was in it. He then took out food and gave it to them. Which they began eating while stuffing the bags with the contents of the boxes. (I (Jeremy) think that I should tell you that I’m not making this part up. They really did start drinking and eating while they were stealing from the bank.) Near the end of the heist Alex, Garret, and Jim raised their glasses and said “to Maloon the greatest Master Mind of the all.
