“DeForest Kelley: A Harvest of Memories, My Life &
amp; Times With a Remarkable Gentleman Actor” by KRIS SMITH is, to turn the tables for just a moment, a REMARKABLE achievement by this not well enough acclaimed Authoress.
I can tell this, and I haven’t even reached the last page. How is she qualified to make that judgement, then? I quite reasonably hear you wonder aloud. No. It’s not just because I know of this wonderful, talented woman. It’s not just because she has, quite often, been kindness itself to me. It’s most definitely NOT because I annex my own ambitions to be half the writer she IS (though I most definitely DO!)!!! It’s because this
BOOK grips you. It sucks you in, from the very beginning, and it’s not in any way ingenuine. It makes you feel like a friend. Not in the ‘flaky’
sense, but in the true sense. The sense that matters. It made me cry by just page number SEVEN! I have no
wish to sound like a ‘hanger on’, a ‘flake’ or anything else so scary, yet unsurprising... But I have never been less than forward in admitting my
LOVE for almost anything, EVERYTHING, and anyone TREK, NEVER ashamed (sometimes, afraid, for fear of being described as the things I have mentioned above, but NEVER ONCE ashamed). I won’t act nonchalantly, if that’s the right wording. I AM a fan of MR. KELLEY’S. I DO wish I had got to know him, as Kris was given the gift of doing. But that fact, and those aforementioned, do NOT disqualify me as just a fan who would love this book, and Kris herself, no matter what shape they were both in.
I LOVE this book and I LOVE Kris Smith because they each deserve to be loved.
The LOVE, TALENT, and CARE with which Kris Smith has written this book is a GLORIOUS head & shoulders above all the rest affair. It is the BEST testimony to what a WONDERFUL person DEFOREST KELLEY IS, WAS, & ALWAYS WILL BE, that it could have ever managed to be!!!
May the stars forever shine as brightly as you ALWAYS will in our hearts’, Mr. Kelley!!!
Kris, I hope to God I get to meet you face to face, one day, my friend. WELL DONE, oh-WONDERFULLY-talented Authoress lady!!!
