The Things They Carried

Book Review by: Topper

Original Author: Tim O'Brien
Weapons and good-luck charms carried by U.S. soldiers in Vietnam here represent survival, lost innocence and the war's interminable
legacy. "O'Brien's meditations--on war and memory, on darkness and light--suffuse the entire work with a kind of poetic form, making for a highly original, fully realized novel," said PW. 60,000 first printing.legacy. a comment on Vietnam war

The abstract could have been more detailed rather than a brief synopsis . War brings out the most painful and heart wrenching experiences of human survival ,both the victor and the vanquished do not benefit from the ravages of war . What follows after the war is picking up the broken pieces of a soldiers life and the people of a country have to start their journey of reconstruction and rebuilding their nation .Wars have been a constant source of fear and pain of people who have to gothrough it. But a good book requires some painstaking efforts by the author.
