Aesop s fables

Book Review by: ivory

Original Author: Aesop
Aesop, perhaps a myth himself is believed to have been a slave of ancient Greece, if he existed at all. A master story
teller, his tales have lasted centuries and allegories that have become part of modern day language. Almost three hundred short stories that give moral guidance using inanimate objects and animals as key players enchant, humor, and remind us of the human condition. Though it cannot be proven with any assurance that there was a man named Aesop what is known is the delightful legacy we have accepted as part of the current moral culture. Slow and steady wins the race for the “Tortoise and the Hare”. Honesty is the best policy for “Mercy and the Woodman”. Quality, not quantity for the “Lionness and the Vixen”. These are timeless life lessons of concision with ambiguity for personal interpretation.Aesop’s Fables,
are wonderfully “quotable” words of wisdom and truisms. With familiar expressions such as “Cry wolf”, “Every Man for Himself”, “Sour Grapes”, and “Throw to the Wolves”, modern speech is indebted to this clever author,. For readers of all ages, Aesop’s Fables
are an enjoyable and quick read of ethical, decent and proper behavior.
