This short book is an interesting, addictive view on the highs and lows of Jack Osborne’s life. He went through many tough
times from his Mum being diagnosed with cancer to him getting stuck up the top of Yosemite in the pitch black with a ten mile track down to the bottom, but probably the
biggest hurdle for him to jump over was the downward spiral he faced early on in his life. He hated his life and himself. He went from being an alcoholic and drug addict to becoming totally sober. He achieved a lot and he should be proud of himself for it. For me, I would of stopped at becoming sober and clean but Jack went further than that, he won a fight against a top, retired going under the name of 'The Man', he fought hard and in the end won it despite the amount of bruises from his deadly kicks. Not only that but he ran down the street avoiding the people but most of all the angry bulls parading down the street after him. That was nothing to him; one of his biggest
challenges was to reach the top of El Capitan, a 7,569 ft rock face in California.Over3000 ft of it is vertical granite. He achieved it though, and when he went to premieres and bars later that year hardly anyone recognised him! Some even wouldn’t let him in at first because they didn’t know who he was! He managed to lose weight, fix his addictions and climb one of the hardest rock faces in the world. Well, if you ask me that’s more than something. He is still going on to achieve more, and Mike and Bean, his rock climbing coaches, are still helping him to bigger, harder extreme challenges.
