He sets a lighthouse, to light the way for ship up, everyday. One day, when he finds a parcel with Polish books on a ship which provides food and water, awakening comes. While reading the books, the plots remind him of his homeland. Beautiful landscape appears before his eyes, he recognised in this landscape his beloved Poland. He is so touched that he falls on the floor. John, port watchman, notices him and, being uneasy about his odd bahaviour, he wakes him up and informs him that he has forgotten to set a lighthouse so that one ship has crashed. In this way, Skawinski loses the job and his exile starts again.
