The book,
Vice, Dick Cheney and the Hijacking of the American Presidency, clearly explains the profound
influence the current Vice President of the United States, Dick Cheney, has had before and since he has held this office. The authors delve deeply into the history of this man's
involvement in politics, from the very beginning when serving as a Congressman, through the involvement with the Reagan and the first Bush administration to the current Bush administration.
Cheney's basic beliefs and actionsare exposed that reflect someone who is narrow-minded, closed to advice from a wide range of resources, above the law, dishonest when convenient, and a willingness to violate the Constitution of the United States while seeming to not suffer from the consequences of his actions. The most disconcerting aspect of this book isthe manner in which Cheney seems to have controlled events fromhis office that has superceded the powers of the Presidency and the lack of leadership exhibited by Bush in attempting to counter this
influence. Numerous examples are cited as evidence of this that leads the reader to come to the conclusion that the current government is in disarray, especially relating to foreign policy.
One of the most impressive aspects of this book is at the very end in which there are "25 Questions for Dick Cheney". These questions capture the essence of the book and , if answered truthfully, would probably lead to the impeachment of this man.
Hopefully, this book will have some influence in 2007 and 2008 in regard to holding this man accountable, as well as President Bush. There has been an absence of Congressional oversight hearings on a wide range of issues, and this book as well as many others that have been recently published should lend to that influence.
