Alcohol and cigarettes are the number two most leading drugs that kill Americans every year and they are legal! Citizens
of the United States are indirectly convinced that our system is fair. Our society promotes addiction and sex as the right thing to do; which makes it extremely hard to not be a victim of circumstance. The government tells us to not drink and drive but they allow the very thing that destroys lives to be purchased legally! The prohibition act which was decided by the people in 1920 convinced the government to stop the manufacturing, importing and exporting of alcohol. It was the “Volstead Act” that made prohibition ineffective. If you put a real sword in the hands of children that like to play with toys; what would the outcome be between the children once they begin to play? If the children are put in a situation that make it ok to sword fight not knowing how it could destroy them; they would kill themselves. What are our rights? We have the right to vote but we should not be allowed to vote on something that is immorally wrong. Alcoholism leads to drug addiction, drug addiction leads to failure, failure prevents happiness, and without happiness we have lost our hope and forget the important things in life. Some people get stabbed in the back by the mental health problem of addiction and die! We don’t think about the damage we do to ourselves while sword fighting in drunkenness until our lifestyle is unprecedented filled with turmoil and chaos. We began to loose our determination to believe in ourselves once our game of drinking for fun and pleasure gets out of control. Cancer is an incurable disease that takes away so many lives every year! We are subjected to commercial ads, and marque advertisement that basically promotes cancer. How can you legally sell a product that becomes a health risk the more you indulge? This is the society we live in! There are so many children emotionally crushed at a young age because there parents died from either alcoholism or cancer when they where too young to understand. “In my opinion, this is the reason I feel it’s an indirect message to believe our society is fair:”The very thing they tell us is against the law is the very same stuff they promote us to have! If it is illegal to drink and drive; there should be a police officer at every club every single day getting ready to arrest everyone that comes out of the club. Some people don’t drink when they go out but most people do. One can of beer is enough to say “Over the limit!” Regardless of which person you are, just coming out of the club alone should be enough suspicion to get pulled over and checked! Does this happen? Of course not! The government is all about the economy! They are willing to do whatever it takes to keep our economy affective but the sad part about that statement is drugs help the economy also. Prison is one of the most booming profitable businesses in our country! Our choices determine the outcome of our prosperity! The people that can separate a want from a need and not be infatuated by a desire are the people that stand out because of their courage and mental strength. If I had the power to change one event in the history of this world, I would go back to 1920 and team up with “Herbert Hoover” and attempt to appeal the “Volstead€T” which gave the use of alcohol for Americans an 0.5 percent lead way. I would focus on keeping the 18th Amendment in the constitution for its original purpose, which was to eliminate the sell, and manufacturing of alcohol and keep it illegal to have! My next change would be my mind set and my inability to resist temptation when it approaches me! Regardless of how unfair rules are, we have a choice to either do what’s right or do what’s wrong! Change the events in your mind and be a good decision maker regardless of what the rules are. Always remember, life is all about change!
