Notebooks of Don Rigoberto

Book Review by: gosia50

Original Author: Vargas Llosa
This abstract was translated from Pochwała macochy
We meet 40-year old Dona Lukretia just after she marries apassionate don Rigobert.Their relationship is full of passion and
even a little pervert as the couple tries to meet their most hidden fanthasies .Dona Lukretia is unsure about a seven year old son of Rigobert though.Buther doubts prove to be unnecessery as the little boy seems to aproove her fully. What`s more Fonsito shows his growing love to her.It makes dona Lukretia feel happy and optimistic about the future. She is however not aware of upcoming disaster. One day when the lips of a seven year old cherub touch hers she is ashamed but she thinks that it happened just by incident. Some time later she will still pretend not to understand the true intentions of Fonsito. She is scared to face the fact that he doesn`t act as unsexual, innocent child.Page by page we witness this little boy seduce the mature woman, his step-mother,we observe their love affair andhis final betryal in front ofhis father. We see dona Lukretia going deeper and deeper into this madness which gradually gives her more and more pleasure, we see her more and more sure in this relationship which on some, perversive way fullfills her sexual relaionship with her husband. The plot is full of stories inspired by art-the erotic painting ,which Rigobert is fond of.There are also numerous descriptions of the hero`s night time ablutios as the attention paid byRigobert to his body is close to an obsession
