Beneath the Pyramid is the first volume of the Judge of Egypttrilogy. It is based in Ancient Egyptian historical fact, withplenty
of imaginative fiction thrown in.Judge Pazair is a young man living in Memphis, the country’s economiccapital. He loves his work and is committed to being as thoroughand just as he possibly can. He stumbles on a document statingthat five Honour Guards, who protected the Sphinx, had been retired tothe country. He doesn’t understand why these men have all decidedto leave their jobs at the same time, so he decides to investigatefurther.He discovers that they have all been murdered, an unusual crime inEgypt at that time. Pazair then tries to uncover the names of themurderers, which leads him into a world of suspense and intrigue.He is aided by his spiritual brother, Suti and a beautiful womandoctor, Neferet, who he falls deeply in love with. They don’trealise that they are involved in a crime far more serious than that ofmurder. The throne of Ramses II and the traditions and happinessof the Egyptian people are in jeopardy.
