In any enterprise, usually no risk leads to no gains, & the gains may even be in relation to the risks taken. But when
some one talks about high rewards with low risks, it is worth finding about it & if possible adopting in our efforts for entrepreneurship, which is an exciting but complicated field. In ten Chapters & four appendices of this book, the author discusses various aspects of starting, growing, managing, minimizing risks, & maximizing profits in an enterprise, along with examples from real life successes. The book is based on his own experience, & also interviews conducted by him with twenty seven entrepreneurs(names listed in the book), for this project & talks given by him. He shows as to how we can cooperate, as well as compete at the same time, & that both low risks & high rewards are possible. The customer is most important, so are the products, orders & reorders. He continues to discuss about having a great idea for the enterprise, achieving it with skill, having right details & the right people, maintaining relationships, carrying out financial analysis, responding to the competitors, giving incentives for the persons in the supply chain etc.
In the Chapter on reassessment, some basic questions are posed about successes, risks & rewards. Presuming that we are running our enterprise successfully, then we have to decide what to do next. There are five options viz. keeping it as it is or reducing it; growing it (wherein points like defining of our role, positioning of required man power, assessing the requirements of new systems & procedures, if any & making the company flexible, will have to be considered); making the company go public, selling it; & closing it. Thus there are several options, but no clear cut formula. But, for a better position for taking the right decision, we should take care of some steps viz. going back to the basics; discussing with people; determining realistic price; assessing our financial position; & assessing ourselves. At any stage in life, we should understand & assess ourselves, our needs, aspirations, strengths & weaknesses, so that we are in a better position to achieve the things. Practical aspects of the knowledge, certain principles & suggestions have been provided, which one can apply in his enterprise to resolve the problems early, & build a successful enterprise. It is a must read book, for any prospective entrepreneur with inadequate money, &/or experience, who wants to start, or buy a business, & also for those who are already running their own companies, for continuous learning for new ideas & encouragement, so that they can achieve high levels of successes, with relatively low level of risks.
