This book is about the Toyota Production System (TPS). Starting from the Toyoda family this book tells about how Toyota became the world’s best manufacturer. It tells about how to eliminate waste. And that if you eliminate waste you produce more & earn more. It highlights how the famous models Lexus & Prius were developed. How management decisions are made at Toyota. Toyota developed Continuous Process Flow to bring the problems to the surface. It was brave enough to stop the production to fix the problems instead of producing the wrong parts continuously, no matter if leads to less production. Supreme quality at low cost is the ultimate goal. Then how to develop leaders who thoroughly understand the work, live the philosophy of the company and then teach it to others. One of the best strategies at Toyota is to go to the place to see, experience & understand the situation when you work in projects. This helps to develop the products as per the requirements. And then becoming a learning organization. As you keep on learning, you also grow. The author, Jeffrey Liker, has written this book after a through research of around 20 years of Toyota. His experience as a professor at the University of Michigan helped him to bring the contents in such a way that this book would definitely help a research scholar and a manager in the industry alike to understand the world’s best manufacturing & management practices.
