Almost Home

Book Review by: InTheSpotlight

Original Author: Damien Echols
Damien Echols is on death row in Arkansas for a gruesome murder that he did not commit. In 1993, Damien as well as his two
friends Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley, were tried and convicted of the murders of 3 eight year old boys in Robin Hood Hills, West Memphis, Arkansas. Damien currently sits on death row, unable to convince the courts of his innocence. Almost Home is Damien's story, as told in a letter to comedian, Margaret Cho. It is his only way of showing the world his side of all the events leading up to and during the modern day witch trials that wrongly convicted the three of murder. I see the book as his proof, his only way of showing his innocents through his own words. The corrupt American justice systems have kept him locked up for 13 years... where he very well may die. This book is Damiens legacy.
