Laura would finally fulfil her dream. The wounds that had been left in her by that absurd accident, would be erased, finally, for always. From that day on she had wished for the surgery that would repair her face. Covered with a veil. Admitting to be of another origin, for wanting to hide the cruel reality that the mirror gave back to her, when she took it off after arriving home. Doctor Smith and his assistants were already prepared. That morning her future would not be the same again. She would recover her self-esteem; she would be able to show herself to others without coverings. The anxiety harassed her and the operating room seemed, to her, the waiting room of a new life. She looked at the wall clock for the last time, until the anestisia had its desired effect, and a few moments she was deeply and calmly asleep. Her bandaged face would be revealed a few days after the operation. The doctors were anxious to see the reaction of Laura. The operation had been a success. One by one the bandages were cut off ... one by one; until the last one. The one that she had waited for so long.
But at that moment something strange happened, even before the doctors could approach her with a mirror for her to see her new image. All the staff of the hospital now had the frightful face that Laura had before. Was it a cruel dream? She left running through the corridors and she saw herself in a mirror. She looked radiant. However, something was not right. The nurses, the patients and visitors of the place seemed to have moulded with the mask that Laura did not want to remember. She trembled for a moment and a cardiac arrest ended her life suddenly! Doctor Smith and the assistants could not believe what happened. Completely consternated they took her to the morgue. Faces of beautiful Laura in the corpses found there. Faces with Machiavellian scars in the beings who left her there... Fantasy or reality... one more case without clarifying.
