This text
explores the
possibility of substituted love and the fact that Orual and Psyche are made one through their joint
struggles. They also become closer to each other through difficulty and strife, than they could have in pleasant circumstances. The
possibility of Orual becoming somewhat like Ungit through her devouring of others in her attempt at loving them is another theme portrayed by the text. It
explores Orual’s mistaken view of love, and how she finds joy in her possessive erotic love of Psyche. He proposes that Orual mistakes selfish pride for selfless devotion.
