The Lady With The Dog

Book Review   by:Yoyo Tsidi     Original Authors: Checkov; Anton

Of course a story is read from a subjective view - we look and find in it the things that upset our minds.
This story from my prospective deals with the on-going quest for deep love in the romantic sense, which for some people seems unachievable. Of course they do not know if it is their character which misses the ability to really love, a character that always sees the flaws and is realistic in it's observations. Or maybe it is the problem of the object, which is not compatible enough, and if the search goes on a little more maybe the right person will be found. It is a tough dilema, maybe one of the toughest that can be - since it is so strongly attached to our hapiness and stays with us forever. This dilema brought by a common story of romance is what I believe Chekov wants to show us. He doesn't have answers, he only presents the issue and shows it in another light, which might give us the space to make judgement on it.
