What is a Falconer
A falconer is a personwhotrains flying birds a rey for the
purpose of carching wild quarry. It is one of oldest
sports inworld and falcons have been practicing this sport
in western Europe since 4th century. Howking birds as birds
used for falconry one generals called, are divided into two
groups-the long-winged,dark-eyed falcons,which include such
birds as penguins, kestrels, mercing and hobbies, and the
shorn –winged yellow –eyed hawks, such as the gogshawkand
the sarrow-hawk. The female falcon is usually preferred
tothemale tiercer, balance she is larger. From the 13th
until of 17th century falconry flourished
inEurope, especially as a sport. Records show that it was
especially popular amongst women. People of all classes
could enjoy the sport,as it ws just as possible for a
humble yeomen to train a bird, as it was for a squire
although he probably had a group of falconers incharge of
his array of hawks. For classes it ws also a way of
providing food. The invention of the sun sealed the fate
of falconry, for it was much less expensive to keep a gun
then a colelctin of hawks and falconers to tend them. By
the end of 17th centuryfalconery had greaetly
diminished, but it survives today as sport.
