writing which was wrought with cynicism and sexual frankness, something that was not readily accepted in their conservative times. His first novel was 'The Sun Also Rises.' It embarrassed his mother so much that when her book club was due to discuss it, she did not attend. Other works of Hemingway include 'Men Without Women,' 'A Farewell to Arms,' 'For Whom the Bell Tolls,' and 'The Old Man and The Sea.' Some of his finest short stories were influenced by the summers his family spent at Walloon Lake in Michigan. That's where he gained a love for flora and fauna. school he edited the school newspaper and gained high marks in English except when points were counted off for penmanship. Ernest Hemingway not only wrote some of the finest fiction of the 20th century, but created a personal image that made him a legend. He was ruggedly handsome and loved adventure. As he grew older his health deteriorated and his memory faded to the point he could no longer writer.
