This book was collated from the practice of a couple who first experienced the adjustments they have to make after their
first
marriage. They put together all the trials, tears and triumphs that come with it and how to make the marriage survive. Reality steps in sometime after the honeymoon phase is over on a second marriage. We tend to ignore the fact that a former spouse has left memories and some influence on our present marriage. There maybe children and an ex-wife and even former in-laws to invade our world now and then and we cannot escape them. You have to expect that the first wife was once a part of his life and at times creeps into the husband's memory and unsettling you. Sometimes you would find him comparing her to you. Both of you have to understand that you have to agree on intimate things like sexual habits that the other one has gotten used to do with the first wife and you should find a middle ground if the second wife is not comfortable with it. You should create your own sexual rapport. Taking sides in a relationship also can create an impact on the present marriage if children are not in good terms with the second wife. You have to balance your affection so as not to alienate the second wife or hurt the children from the
previous marriage. Talking out your problems about the previous marriage and how you react on the second one will help solve the problem. Counselling would also help if we find we are not effectively tackling the problem in a positive way. A counsellor will guide you through the things you have overlooked. Sometimes it takes a third person to be able to spot the flaws.
