AESOP'S FABLES

Book Review by: RINCANASI

Original Author: AESOP
This classic and timeless fables is an excellent way to introduce children to very fine literature. Short, literate stories
each with a moral, which allows the child to absorb, with ease these fine fables.
The fables of ancient Greece have been known to civilisation for centuries and are as apt today as when they were first penned in the sixth century AD. Aesop was a slave and contrived these stories to please his master. The stories mainly feature animals, beasts e.g: the Grasshopper and the Owl is a story which represents how the grasshopper was tempted to take nectar; whereupon, the Owl utilised the situation to swallow him. Aesop's master was not the sharpest knife in the drawer and never really understood the moralistic tales behind the fables.
Aesop's Fables have now been with us for over 2,500 years and contain short literate stories each one with a moral. The presentation of the fables and the ease of reading and portraying the morals to children is truly excellent. Each fable is a short and quick read and holds a childs attention fully and yet the underlying moralistic fibre reaches out with great ease and understanding.
To sum up I believe that every Teacher and every class should have Aesop's Fables within their reach as they would make an excellent addition to any classroom. TImeless and moralistic.
