harry potter and the half blood prince

Book Review by: alan67

Original Author: j.k.rowling
unlike the other episodes, the half blood prince instils a feeling of initial disappointment. it is painful in many ways,
especially the death of the most wisest character in the series. a second reading of the book reveals diferent facets and actually provides an insight into the torment the author has undergone in putting a book acceptable to all. the initial harry potter was meant for kids and was enjoyable with a good touch of humor. however the latest potter panders more to the adult than the child. the usual subtle humor is also missing putting a weak appearance once in a while. Harry potter, the lead character's sudden reversal of love seems to be depicted to appease more to the racists than anything genuine. one gets a sudden sinking feeling when harry's oriental love is forgotten, wantonly disgraced and he jumps back to ginny (his love) who's all of a britisher.
rowling seems to have been bothered more about her british following than her international fans. still one cannot blame her for it is they that have supplicated her thus far.the book seem to stutter at many places and does'nt have the smooth flow one is accustomed to in the other rowling books. it is as though the author's imagination had dried up and she had to squeeze every ounce of it to get the book completed
for all these controversies, one cannot but appreciate rowling for the way she has taken the story. it is not everyday that we get transported to a magical world so thoroughly. its believable and enjoyable. many other books of fantasy have entered the market but none in the class of harry potter. our heart sings when he is happy and goes out for him during his troubles. the eternal villian voldemort has taken a back seat and snape has revealed himself to be more dangerous. i never knew i could hate some character of a book so much. as does the world i too eagerly await the next book.
