WUTHERING HEIGHTS

Book Review by: RINCANASI

Original Author: EMILY BRONTE
This classic was originally published in 1847 and was not well-received by the general public of the day. It was condemned
as highly sordid and vulgar and the author Emily Bronte died believing that her book was a complete failure.
Almost the entire novel is narrated by the housekeeper, Nelly Dean, who willingly open up to the new tenant who has taken out a lease on Thrushcross Grange. The new tenant is a Mr Lockwood who is instantly greeted with a rather hostile manner. When he calls to his neighbouring estate of Wuthering Heights he instantly feels highly unwelcome and a little threatened. Unfortunately for him the snowfall ensures that he must stay overnight at Wuthering Heights and this proves to be a very harrowing experience indeed. Mr Lockwood, on retiring to the guest room for the evening, is awakened by a supernatural presence and on inspecting further, he sees a ghost-like presence hovering outside of his window. Naturally, he is terrified and spends the rest of his evening down by the rather large and gothic fireplace completely terrified to move around his neighbours house.
The story continues and unfolds into one of the greatest books written of love and complete revenge. The trials and tribulations of this family is truly one of the best classic novels Emily Bronte ever penned. This story will blow you away with the powerful characters, bittersweet sidelines and vengeful events. It is a brilliantly written novel and one that you will never forget.
Emily Bronte is a genius and he work is truly one of the all time best classics. Even to this day this book can divide a room 50/50 on whether the story is one of immence love or the greatest novel ever written on the subject of revenge.
