Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Book Review by: AngelGesbor

Original Author: Hunter S. Thompson
This abstract was translated from Miedo y asco en Las Vegas
Two friends, a journalist, that relates the history in first person and a lawyer, they undertake a crusade looking for The
Holy Grail of American dream, in the lose city of red and eternal lights, it accommodate in the center of the desert, Las Vegas. Armed with alcohols distilled of thousand different forms and drugs creates for different alchemists, they will pass some days and some nights between the hotel, crammed of polices that celebrate the national conference about narcotics, and a important car race.
All of this ambient les carries to a continuous paranoia bathed of violence without another end that this same one, of women in love of the alien money and willing to obtain it anyway, of illusions that never will be able to be distinguished of the reality, one car become an obsession and only one goal, of obligations forgot toward the others, of momentary pleasure as possible only enjoyment, of discussions without more felt that the dispute dialectic as such and of claustrophobic environment born in the enormous open spaces that become jails of the souls free.
We mix all this with a direct prose, fired, frantic, brilliant and we will find us with this small literary jewel of what came to be called journalism Gonzo, in which the writer is the center of the narration and, therefore, of the news.
The book has its film version, directed by Terry William and starred in by Johnny Depp, but this does not come to grasp the entire world obsessive and demented, bathed of hallucinogenic potions, that the book shows us.
