The
Little Prince is a little gift in
innocence to all of us
grownups who are too busy
engaged in adult
activities to indulge in innocence. It is about a little boy lost I the new world and meeting strange adults. Most of them are engaged in useless activities which would benefit neither them nor others. It is pretense, sham,, or whatever you call it.
The end of his wandering comes when he is bitten by a viper. Even this is done with his permission. And the query is touching. Do you have enough venom to kill me?
This is a small book, containing a few drawings from the author. the author was equally colorful character. He was a pilot who took active part in the Spanish civil war,. Last heard, he was flying over the Sahara desert.
He has written another book too whose title eludes me. The
message is clear. That we grow up at the cost of innocence. We accumulate
layers and layers of fat physically as well as metaphorically. Then we pine for our years of innocence, without realizing that we and not the environment is to blame for our predicament. It is too late to backtrack.
If ever we act , it is better geared towards regaining our right to innocence. this is the message St Exupery gives to humanity.
