Inés of my soul

Book Review by: borntobe

Original Author: Isabel Allende
There are at least 500 “Inés of my soul” in Santiago de Chile, today.  She may be the lady at your side in Santiago’s
subway.  And these are no metaphors.  Inés still lives on the streets of the city she helped found.  Isabel Allende, for example, is one of our most visible Inés of the XXI th. Century.
She writes as Inés lived in an epoch when to be a lady you needed to know how to cut native people’s throats, and with just one touch.  Isabel writes these pages with a knife; an old knife, a little rotten.  No problem of efficiency.
Inés was a great lover, needles to explain.  She was the “second man” to Pedro de Valdivia, Chile’s Spanish  “conqueror”.  She was a most sweet woman in Valdivia’s bed.  So, ¿are you getting the point?  Isabel Allende is well known worldwide.  You would expect some easy tale now : she is assured a fortune with each new novel.  It’s not the case : Isabel, which I met –I will not say where or when (and what for), is a latin writer that will never mislead you.  Have a pleasure with this, her last story.
