This book closely covers the amazing work of Alfred Hitchcock. He was the one of the most established directors in film history. Coming from a British background, Hitchcock marveled the world with detailed directing. Donald Spoto makes the connection with Hitchcock and his personal life. Actual quotes of what this director said and notes that were written to another party are included. A few classic illustrations of movie stills and Hitchcock are planted on the pages. Hitchcock worked with the greatest acting minds and brilliantly understood the art of directing and writing. He carefully planned his movies like the storyboards that he used in Northwest by Northwest. Hitchcock used material that was reminiscent of his own life. As he denied the use of theory, film scholars have extensively evaluated his work to support the hypothesis of what his films were about. This director suppressed his problems and used that as power to make the greatest films in recent memory. This book contains segments of Hitchcock's life through a span of time from th director's conception to the moment that he passed way. If you enjoy film, you have to learn about these classic films and the man behind them.
