Benazir Bhutto wrote this
autobiography in 1988, just before the election that would make her the first woman prime minister
of a Muslim country at the age of thirty-five. She describes in detail the horror of her father''s
imprisonment and death, after her priveleged youth and education at Harvard and Oxford. Her subsequent imprisonment for years only strengthened her character and resolve to restore democracy to Pakistan. Because it is written by her,
the book provides many insights into the character of one of the most interesting women of our time.
