Book Review by: kristencho

Original Author: Bible
THE BEGINNING-In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  The earth was formless
and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. God said "let there be light" and there was light he separated the light from the darkness.  God called the light day and the darkness night.  there was evening and morning the first day. God said "Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water". So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it and it was so.   God called the expanse the sky.  There was evening and there was morning the second day. God said " Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place and let dry ground appear.  And it was so.  God called the dry ground
"land" and the gathered waters he called "seas" And God saw that was good. Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: plants and trees that bear fruit with seed in it, The land produced vegetation:The third day.  God made the lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years.  God made two great lights the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night he also made the stars the fourth day.  God said "Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky".
He created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the the water teems, God blessed them and said "reproduce" the fifth day.  God said "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind." God created man in his own image male and female.  Their names were Adam and Eve the mother of all the living, God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living being.  He caused the man to fall asleep, he took one of his ribs and closed up the place with flesh.  He took the rib and made the woman he then took the woman to the man.  He said " This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman for she was taken our of man .  For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, they will become one flesh .  The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.   He told them "be fruitful and increase in number;" and rule over the sea an every living creature that moves on the ground.  God said "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with see in it.  They will be yours for food.  You cannot eat from "the tree of life"   in the Garden of Eden to which you both shall  live in.  God saw all that he had made and it was good sixth day.  By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing so the seventh day he rested from all his work  He blessed this day and made it holy.  The fall of man  Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made.  He said to the woman, "Did God really say"You Must not eat from any tree in the garden?'  The woman said to the serpent "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden , but God did say, "You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die."  "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman.  "For God knows that when you eat of iyour eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."  When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food she took some and ate it.  She also gave some to her husband. Then the eyes were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.  They both knew God was coming and hid.  They finally came when God called them they told God they hid because they were naked and God knew what they had done.  God cursed the serpent by making him crawl on his belly for the rest of his life and for all serpents.  He punished Eve by increasing her child bearing pains and he punsihed Adam by a life of hard work and labor. God made garments out of skin and clothed them both and with Adam knowing good and evil he must not eat from the tree of life and live forever.  God banished them from the Garden of Eden.
